Q&A with Andy Scheurer & the Caviezel bros: Developing the Scheurer G7

This year I had the chance to participate at the Bordeaux 2014 A-Class Europeans, and thanks to the help of Andy Scheurer and Sandro Caviezel I got to sail the G6 and race in the A-Class racing for the first time.

It was a great sailing and learning experience, the A was all I expected to be and I got hooked even more with the boat. I also got to know people that had been part of the Class for many years and still fully involved like Andy Scheurer, Piet Saarberg & Scott Anderson.

The largest fleet of A Class catamarans ever assembled in the UK took to the water at Rutland SC on the 26th – 28th September. 23 of these thoroughbred racers were seen at the best attended British Nationals ever. This represented some 85% of the national membership, a remarkable feat.

Danish Nationals – Wind, Weeds, Breakdowns & Revenge

"This past weekend, 27th and 28th of September, the Danish Nationals were held at Hellerup Sailing Club, just north of Copenhagen, as a joint event with the Contender class.

The weather was beautiful for this time of year, the wind was blowing offshore and provided some flat water conditions in the race area, but on the other hand the wind was very gusty. In the first race we had several incidents:

We have confirmed reports on about 2 containers full of brand new As heading to US incoming weeks.

It seems Sandro learned fast from Sascha Wallmer. As reported some weeks ago, Sandro told us that Sascha was 'sailing around him in circles' in the trainings being done with the new Scheurer G7s.

Wallmer won the Italian event 2 weeks ago and ended second this time at the Swiss Nats behind Caviezel.
3rd place for Helmut Stumhoffer, 4th for Daniel Caviezel and 5th for Mathias Dietz.

Sweden, 2014 season's end Regatta

Sent by Harald Wigerstedt. The Sweden Marstrom fleet continues to put good numbers on their local races. The local Association is making some changes as reported by Harald, so we are glad to hear more from this Nordic fleet that is gathering youths to race along long time A-Cat sailors a legends like Goran Mastrom.
