US Fleet: 5 de Mayo Regatta for Bailey White

Report sent by Bailey White, USACA President: "Please find attached results and images for the Zhik sponsored 5 de Mayo Regatta held at the Lake Lanier Sailing Club http://www.llsc.com. Shoutout to Dustin Romey for making the trek from Miami and showing what the Marstrom can do in the last race.

We should also have some great media coming out at our A-cats North Americans sponsored by Gunboat in about a month. We are sailing this year in North Carolina near the new Gunboat factory and have 55 boats registered.

Spanish Cup 2014 for Manuel Calavia

Report sent by Manuel Calavia, current European Champ:
"We would like to inform that the Spanish A Class Cup 2014 was held last weekend (1 to 4 of May) at Cambrils (100km South of Barcelona). We had a good fleet with 18 boats, including 3 brand new Exploders that were delivered on May 1st.

Manuel Calavia with a DNA, was performing in other league and won with ease all 6 races he participated, with a final dnc.
Gustavo Doreste (Top 10 last year in Europeans) and Abdon Ibañez (Top 12 last year in Europeans) sailed the brand new Exploders with J boards & T rudders.

Vele di Pasqua 2014 for Luca Maffessoli

Congrega Velisti Cesenatico celebrated 40 years of their Vele di Pasqua Regatta. They organized a showroom to display some historic goods.
On the water Luca Maffessoli won with 3 bullets out of 6 races and 9 points ahead former European Champ, Bob Baier.
Third place for Micky Todd. 40 boats participated on the event.

Q&A with Hervé Ledue, current French Champ & 2014 Europeans event Coordinator

The 2014 Europeans will be held this June 20-29 at Cercle Voile Bordeaux, France. We contacted Hervé Ledue, event coordinator and 2013 French National Champ to know more about the venue and how he got involved in sailing A-Cats.

Francois Gabart & Philippe Presti will race the 2014 Europeans @Bordeaux

Good news for the Class having Gabart & Presti onboard for the Europeans. Gabart, ex Tornado sailor, has won the Vendee Globe last year and has participated at the 2013 F18 Worlds where he finished 4th overall.
He has been sailing the Flying Phantom lately thus getting flight hours. Now is training for the Europeans on the new Dominik Scheurer's/D3 A-Cat. Photo left with Askell built mast.

Philippe Presti is already registered too, the former Finn Olympic sailor and sailing coach for Oracle Team USA has also sailed the Flying Phantom and both will be racing at Bordeaux.

Hall Spars Admirals Cup 2014: Ben Moon 1st

Ben Moon continues to demonstrate his excellent racing status by winning another event in the US. This time at the Hall Spars Admiral Cup organized by the Gulf Port Yacht Club.
Ben didn´t went to Takapuna and also missed the 2013 Europeans, hope to see him along a good contingent of US sailors at Bordeaux in June.

In second place Jeremy Herrin, the young star of the US catracing scene along some other talented youths.

Ben Hall ended 3rd.
