Looking forward to the Worlds

In about a month, the most beautiful people from the ‘A’ Cat world will be assembling in the English seaside holiday town of Weymouth.  Specifically, at the 2012 Olympic venue of the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, a purpose built competition sailing venue on the shores of Portland Harbour.  As befits an Olympic venue, it boasts all the facilities one would need and expect, and coupled with the superb flat water it promises much great sailing.  Just ask our tame former GBR Olympic sailor Adam May, or the fastest sailor on Earth, Paul Larsen, both chose to live there for a

Worlds 3rd party insurance

As a result of recent changes in the insurance world, a few countries are having difficulty getting insurance for travelling to this event.  This looks set to become an issue on all furure international events too, so it's not just a GBR problem.  However, if your insurance company is unable or unwilling to extend your insurance area cover for the Worlds, Noble Marine have kindly offered to insure you 3rd party for the period of the events.

Maciej Żarnowski victorious in a closely fought Sopot 3 Piers Regatta.

The POL Sopot Three Piers Regatta took place on the weekend of the 15-16thJune, organised by the 2017 Worlds club of UKS NAVIGO.  This mixed catamaran event saw 34 cats with 3 races a day scheduled.  The Saturday racing was rather ‘interesting’ as there was a light onshore 5-8 kt breeze but with a bigger sea, causing a few problems.  The evening was spent productively in the ‘Sailors for the Sea’ event where litter was collected from the surrounding beach and dune area, followed by a salmon BBQ courtesy of Almaru Salmon.

Lars Schrøder, DEN National Champion

Danish Nationals - Report by Lars Schrøder

Once again the danish fleet meet up for fierce competition in Kerteminde, as part of Sailextreme, the largest dinghy regatta in Denmark. A rather small but dedicated group of sailors, with no obvious favourite.

Weather forecast was bad and proved to be correct… One race over the limit on Saturday, where Thomas P showed his skills. Sunday was better, after a couple of hours waiting. 2 ½ perfect races, upwind foiling starts paying of, but difficult in the patchy conditions. Capsizing doesn't..

Mischa in the zone at Hellecat

Seven bullets for Mischa Heemskerk in nine races!! Kees Krijger reports.

In spite of the weather forecast, beautiful competitions were held in the Netherlands at Hellecat on Saturday and Sunday the 18th & 19th of May. On Saturday 5 races were sailed in super circumstances, with five bullets for Mischa Heemskerk.

Memorial Santi Monjo ESP 'A' Cat regatta in Barcelona.

A memorial regatta is announced to honour the popular ESP sailor Santi Monjo, who sadly passed away last year, but in a manner that we may all probably secretly aspire to, whilst actually sailing his beloved 'A' Cat.   Abdón Ibáñez sends this invitation to honour his memory in Barcelona.

'We would like to inform you about a very Special Event we are preparing in Barcelona: Memorial Santi Monjo, that will be held in Barcelona next July.

Foiling Easter Regatta, Garda.

On the Garda circuit now, and with 21 entries, this event can only get more popular.  Emmanuel Dodé reports on his personal experiences.

I arrived at Garda the weekend before and it was sunny and 18-20 deg for the whole period.  However, the wind was a light southerly, and 6-10 kts with occasional 12kt gusts.  The upside was that this made the water almost flat.
