Removal of rule 8.2 Explained
"At the time of the removal of the no Hyrofoil rule, I was chairman of the Technical committee. The way I understood the IACA decision was that the no Hydrofoil rule was to be removed after ballot because it was to difficult to define what a hydrofoil was or in fact what constituted a flying boat.

Nordic Championships for Thomas Paasch

Nordic Championships.
In the past weekend (7th and 8th of September), the Nordic Championships where held at the Skovshoved sailing club, just north of Copenhagen/Denmark.

Besides national championships, the Scandinavian countries have a long tradition of having Nordic championships, gathering sailors from all the Nordic countries. For the A-Class this is somewhat limited to Sweden and Denmark, but nevertheless it’s a nice tradition.

UK Nationals 2013 for Chris Field

British A Class Nationals – Island Yacht Club, Canvey Island. Sept 6th – 8th
Report by Gordon Upton: "Fourteen ‘A’ Class Catamarans made up the strongest field for a few years at the on Canvey at the Island Yacht Club. Even the great Dutch Grandmaster himself, Piet Saarberg, came over with a pair of Vision A Cats for Chris Field and him to race on.

Europeans 2014 @Cercle Voile Bordeaux

2014 Europeans are going to be held at Cercle Voile Bordeaux on June 21-28th.
A-CLASS EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 201
"The ‘Cercle de Voile de Bordeaux Maubuisson’ and all its affiliates are proud to have been selected to organized the 2014 AClass European championship. All the team and the volunteers will do their ultimum to welcome the AClass Sailors."

Class Submissions & Proposals: Letter to Associations

Dear Presidents,
The Technical committee and the IACA committee have been working on several proposals over the past months which are intended to improve the way we do things within the class. The initial list started out quite long but after serious consideration we have managed to solve some issues without the need of a ballot. We do however still have some areas which need your attention. I have summarised the submissions below and their current status.

New Annual event at Garda organized by Circolo Vela Arco

"Arco Club in Lake Garda will host an annual international regatta each year as of 2014. Lake Garda is one of our most popular sail venues in Europe this event could become one of the biggest events on the calander each year along the Europeans. In earlier times the Torbole Trophy attracted well over 100 Tornados to Lake Garda every year. It would be really something if the A class could have such an event in the years to come. I am sure it will be very successful." Andrew Landenberger IACA's President.

Images Roberto Vuileumier & Denis Lucci. || PJ Dwarshuis & Arno Terra as AClass sailors decided to build their own A, they were quite successful in it and they forced a new development era that triggered lots of new projects.
In the process they have sold lots of boats contributing in a direct way to the Class health and also some additional exposure with the AC guys going for their A as test beds for the new multi campaigns.

Dutch Nats 2013 for Thilo Keller

9 races compelted for the Dutch Nats with 4 bullets and three 2nds for the winner. Report and images sent by Kees Krijger: "First day with light winds and better conditions for the rest of the weekend. Thilo Keller, another sailor sailing his own design, the Arrow MKII, was the fastest in light as in strong winds.
The Germans sailors were quite succesful at Hellevoetsluis, as Sebastian Moser was second on a Scheurer and Matthias Dietz third on a Nikita.
First Dutchmen was Erwin Kerstens, who was invited to sail on the Vision of his friend
