Medemblik Worlds Update

So far the organisers of the 2016 World Championships have received entry fees of 108 competitors, which gives them financial security for a fantastic event.

With the 120+ registered competitors, they will split the fleets in a similar way as in Punta Ala.  ie Two fleets randomly split initially, then the top half of each fleet will join together into a Gold and Silver fleet.

The board shape stats are -

Z - 68

C - 35

J - 12

S - 5

Other - 5

Although not official yet, it is very likely that the measurement will be based on 'post race measurement' system. This means that all competitors must arrive with a valid and updated measurement certificate (refer to here) and boat!  This is a little different from previous years, where details such as weight, foil-tip distance etc. were checked for you. We may choose 5 boats, after the races every day, to be checked. There will be an official Note on this when ready.

The social program depends a bit on the sponsorship (of which more are still looking for), but expect:

  • Happy hours -  in combination with day prices
  • Dutch cocktail bites (bitterballen, vlammetjes and the like)
  • Opening and closing ceremonies (with drinks!)
  • Captain's dinner
  • Special 'sailors meal ' in the restaurant
  • Good espresso and cappuccino

However, there will be no bag with goodies at Registration, to limit rubbish on the boat park.

The area will be available from Monday 13th June for sailors and security guarded during the night.
