Swedish Sailing Federation awards Lifettime Achievement to Goran Marstrom

Goran Marstrom has been a driving force for the Multihull community for years. He has set the standard , still unscathed, for the high quality needed to build Olympic level boats like the Marstrom Tornado, which remains the benchmarking for multihull builders around the World-

In the A-Class Goran has pushed for the same quality with his M5. Goran remains an active A-Class sailor still participating and helping to promote local Sweden regattas. A-Cat sailors are more than proud to have him as one of their own.

A place in sailing's Hall of Fame was awarded to the sailor and designer Göran Marström for a lifetime achievement in the sport of sailing.

There are not many people who become legends in their lifetime, but those who will be in the race sooner or later for sailing's own Hall of Fame. Goran has always sailed multihulls, and has been driving development forward.

He has sailed in the Olympics in the Tornado 1980, 1984, 1988 and 1992 with a third place in 1980 in Moscow as his best result. He began to build catamarans when the he thought the ones available weren´t for good enough to sail with. It was the beginning of a great career as a designer and boatbuilder, with the most current design being the M32.

He has developed and manufactured over 750 tornadoes, a number of A-cat, M20 and the Extreme 40 catamarans with several other catamarans and even trimarans of Marstrom in Västervik,

Despite the Göran today is 73 years, he is still working on development for new ideas. Goran unfortunately could not himself attend the dividend, but his two children came and received the award in his place. --
