Dutch nationals 2010

A-class sailing is beginning to get quite popular in Holland. It’s probably too early to state that the introduction of the DNA is causing a hype but fact is that it gives the class a certain buzz. In Hellevoetsluis there were 48 boats from 6 countries at the start.
Conditions were very windy, up to 24 knots on the last day, and flat water behind the dike which separates the lake Haringvliet from the North Sea.
Great Britains' Chris Field proved that winning the Swiss Nationals on lake Garda was not an accidental victory. Chris won 4 of the 6 races and was only beaten by Pieterjan Dwarshuis who dug-up some amazing downwind speed on his DNA in race 4 with just bit less wind, and himself, dropping his mainsail right after the start of race 6.
Bob Baier was fast using a new Ashby max sail and sailing well but couldn’t keep track especially after missing the gate in race 2.
Sjoerd Hoekstra using a modified Tool (with DNA boards) saved a final third place by winning the last race.
