Worlds @Takapuna: Letter from the President

Letter by Andrew Landenberger , IACA President.

Dear A class members,

Another A class world championship has passed with great success. Despite early concerns about the preparations in Takapuna, the Event management team of Kerry Ellis and Evelyn Johnson along with there large team did a wonderful job to put on a fantastic event. Of course all were thanked sincerely during the official closing for there hard work.

Now I would like to thanks our own people who played a major role in making this event happen, especially those members of the IACA committee who dedicated there own time to make the event a success.

Firstly I would like to thank Graeme Harbour for not only running the measurement for the worlds but also handling the never ending number of rule issues which evolved over the course of the event. With all the developments in the class this year, being the chairman of the Technical has been a full time job and with all the flying boats appearing on the event, Graeme found himself involved in a constant game of Q & A. His proffessionalism can only be fully realized by those who were there first hand to witness it.
Thank you Bags, we could not have done it without you.

Secondly, our Vice president, "Ian Johnson" made a wise decision to leave his boat at home and represented the class on the Start boat. Ian also coordinated just about everything between the club and class including "Social" functions! opening and closing ceremonies. Storm Thank you also for all your hard work and allowing me to focus a little on my sailing as well.

Also Piet Saarberg and Mike Drummond both made great contributions to the organization of the event. There we also many other members who all pitched on when the help was required - so for all those involved I thank you very much. The companionship between the sailors from all over the world was as usual a wonderful experience.

I look forward to another outstanding event at the Europeans in France.

See you there.
Best regards,

Landy-
