Results from Day 1. Usual suspects leading: Ashby & Brewin with a Bullet each, holding 1st and 2nd overall. 3rd for Jack Benson. Excellent news having Dario Valenza's Paradox racing in the front fleet with Thomas Stuchbery besides some some trap/capsize issues, a good preparation for Takapuna. "Day 1 started waiting for wind to build. Eventually started race 1 at 1300 after 2 general recalls and a black flag start with 6-8 knots dying during race. Race shortened at second gate. First place Steve Brewin followed by Glenn Ashby, Chris Cairns, John Richards, Jack Benson. A protest has been lodged against Chris Cairns for a mark rounding infringement so results are provisional.
Race 2 started after 2 general recalls and black flag. 2 laps in 5-8 knots which built during race. Won by Glenn Ashby from Jack Benson, Adam Beattie, Steve Brewin and Thomas Stuchbery on the Orange Paradox. Dave Brewer, Mark Johnston, Hamish Sinclair and Steve Wright black flagged out of race.
Race 3 started in building breeze of 9-12 knots after 1 general recall and blag flag start. 3 laps won by Glenn Ashby from Steve Brewin, Adam Beattie, Jack Benson, Steve Brayshaw. Thomas Stuchbery was driving the Paradox very hard and rounded the 1st gate in third position, but broke his trapeze on the second beat and capsized."
