Worlds @Takapuna, New Zealand: Barker & Ashby in?
The Takapuna Worlds official entry list still don´t show them as registered. But the DNA guys at their blog, are saying they will participate along Ray Davies & Peter Burling on J-Boarded boats from the Dutch factory.
The Js have shown great potential with Mischa going Airborne, but as the builder even recognize, they are still missing a win to show Js are the next step, as Winglets are now standard in the fleet.
In 2011 the Australian Nats saw Barker, Bundock, Brouwer, Ashby and many others racing one of the most competitive events ever the Class has seen. Check images, reports & results from that event at http://www.catsailingnews.com/search/label/A-Class%20Australian%20Nats%…
Barker had an excellent performance with a 5th overall and 6 top 4 results, showing he was already sailing cats quite naturally against a super talented fleet of long timed A-Cat top guns.
So we hope to have Barker in again for NZ Worlds. http://www.a-cat.org/?q=node/284
In other related news, Arno Terra, founder of DNA with PJ Dwarhuis is leaving the project. More insights next week.
Beyond any other consideration Arno with PJ have contributed in a great way to the Class providing the key asset to form new fleets, and that is precisely new boats with new sailors coming to play.
That legacy will leave strong, thanks Arno for the hard work on building & designing A-Cats.
