2020 Euros to be in Puerto Sherry, Cadiz.

Dear Presidents, Dear Members,

The IACA had issued a call for bids for the Euro 2020 already back in 2016, then re-issued the call in 2017. We were lucky enough to receive two bids from Spain : Cadiz and Barcelona. The IACA would like to thank both clubs for bidding for the A-Class Europeans 2020.

During the WGM 2017 in Sopot, the class presidents accepted with large majorities the new championship rules and the creation of the 'Classic' discipline. In the world-wide poll conducted one year ago, the support to keep the Classics alive was very large as well. For these reasons, the IACA committee wants to push locations allowing open championships and thus the support of the Classics discipline.

After asking questions to both bidders on these key criteria, only Cadiz answered them with positive answers. Barcelona didn't answer, so we assume the club isn't ready to host an open event, which would as a result, cause a major setback for the classics, as their sailors would experience difficulties in qualifing themselves in a contingent-based qualification.

For these reasons, the IACA committee has decided to allocate the Euro 2020 to Puerto Sherry, Cadiz.
