Italy:Adriatico Wind Club Ragatta 2015: Teo di Battista 1st

Report sent by Pier Faccin / Italian Assoc. - July 6th, 2015 Porto Corsini - Italy: Teo Di Battista won the National A Class race organized by the Adriatic Wind Club held July 4th to 5th it was the fifth race of the National Calendar of A Cat Italy at Porto Corsini. All six races on the program were completed, thanks to a perfect weather. The only flaw was the intensity of the “scirocco” wind, which, despite the sea breeze regime, always blew below the standard. All the races were held in light winds with peaks of 4 m/ s.

Teo di Battista, multi-titled A class veteran from Circolo Vela Cesenatico, has largely dominated the regatta, winning 3 races and discarding a sixth position. Behind him ranked Giuseppe Colombo, from Unione Velica Maccagno. In third place, another representative of the Union Velica Maccagno, Luca Micolitti, quite a rookie for in the A class, followed by Daniele Menegatti of Circolo Nautico Volano, now a constant presence in the top ten of Italy’s National regattas, and then, Franco Niggeler and Paolo Sorcinelli. Stefano Casadei was the seventh: the final score of the Adriatico Wind Club’s helmsman has been penalized by two OCS, but he shown a very good speed in all races, being always in touch with Teo. After Stefano, was then Paolo Penco, Gegè Casadei, and Daniel Pascucci, for the top ten of final classification.

The local hospitality of Adriatico Wind Club was appreciated by all participants and their mates. After a sumptuous dinner, a ’80-’90 themed party's was organized by the sailing club for the “Notte Rosa”.

Next meeting will be the National Race, to be held on the July 25th to 26th in Ladispoli, near Rome at the Associazione Velica Marina di San Nicola. This will be the last national event before the A Class World Championships which will be held at Punta Ala (Tuscany) in early September.
